Discover Zemun: A City Within a City

Embark on a journey through Zemun, a unique district of Belgrade with its own distinct history. Once a separate town, Zemun was annexed to Belgrade in 1934 and is beautifully situated on the right bank of the Danube, upstream from central Belgrade.

Historic Zemun:

Explore the old part of what is now Belgrade and discover how Zemun’s rich and varied history differs from the rest of the city. Wander through its blend of modern wide boulevards and charming old narrow streets.

Gardoš Hill and Millennium Tower:

Enjoy breathtaking views from Gardoš Hill, home to the iconic Millennium Tower, also known as the Gardoš Tower. This brick tower stands as a testament to the once-powerful Austro-Hungarian Empire and was built in 1896 to commemorate a millennium of rule in the region. Officially opened on August 20, 1896, the tower provides panoramic views over the rooftops of Zemun and the bell tower of St. Nicholas Church.

Ancient Roots:

Delve into the ancient origins of Zemun, established during the Neolithic era. Known as Taurunum in Celtic and Roman times, the area boasts a deep historical significance that adds to its allure.
